Site context was hugely important to the design. Inspiration was everywhere within the existing architecture. Colours from the stained glass and architectural stonework were used to remind guests of the grandeur of the building they’re staying in. From revealing existing parquet floors to choosing heritage detailing to be reinstated, this building was brought back to life once more.
This building had been neglected by the local authority. The sale was controversial and so we wanted to make a statement for the new owners that they really care about the history of this building and what it means to the surrounding residents. By choosing a bold royal blue from the stained glass rather than the existing red, we were marking a new era for this building.
